The power for charging phones and lights is supplied by a power bank
that is charged via a solar panel. This is not suitable for running or
charging large items as it will drain the power bank quite quickly.
Please bring extra batteries or car chargers if you require to run
larger items like laptops or music systems.
Please find all the kitchen utensils, plates etc boxed under the sink.
The tap water is for cooking and showering only. Drinking water
is supplied in bottles. Please shout if you run out.
The bulb lights switch on by pressing the button onto of the bulb.
The fairy lights turn on on the back of the small solar panels
attached tothe ends of the wires.
There is firelighting equipment provided.
Please do not leave lit fires or BBQs unattended. To light the fire
puta good bed of newspaper or a fire lighter and some sticks on top.
Turn the little handle on the chimney so that it points to the sky.
Light the paper/fire lighter and leave the door slightly ajar on the second notch
of the door catch until the fire has caught. Once it is burning well
add some more wood. Leave the door ajar on the second latch until the tent is warm enough. (please only use the wood provided in the tent that
has been cut to the right size. If looking for wood outside to burn,
please do not use pine as we discovered the sap (creosote) drips down
onto the tent when it's burnt. Close the door on the log burner completely when the tent is warm enough or you settle into bed for the night.
There is a folder with information and instruction manuals for all
theequipment on site - showers, power pack etc. Also in the pack are
someactivities for the children. Also included are some walks that we
suggest - some harder than others but all worth doing to see the views
from the local summits or the nature around the valley floor. Please also see the links on this websites walking page.
There is fridge under the sink. If you have any issues with it please
give us a shout. It will be lit and working on your arrival
All the bedding is supplied with extra blankets. There are two goose
expedition sleeping bags and blankets for those sleeping on the futon
should you need it.
Tea, coffee and sugar in the kitchen with all pots, pans and utensils.
Toilet paper, soap and washing up liquid with sponges are also provided.
The local pub is great! Good beer and food (we recommend the curry
or steak) It is recommended to book in the evenings if you plan to go
for a meal. The number is 01873 810350. Say you are staying at Marc’s
belltent as if they are busy they may squeeze you in as they are
mates of ours. Please note they are closed on Mondays and only serve food from Wednesday to Sunday but there are
plenty of other options in Crickhowell.
Things you may want to bring -
Towels - Please bring towels for washing and showering.
A good torch - The walk back and forth to the car/road/pub is unlit
and a good flash light is essential for safety.
Wellies / Walking Boots - The walk down to the tent is a little muddy
due to past guests trying to drive down to the tent unsuccessfully!
Radio - There is little or no 4G signal so a portable radio or down-
loaded albums would be a wise option if you want music/radio
A Bobble Hat - Wile sitting outside by the fire a bobble hat will do
wonders to keep you warmer for longer
If you are unsure of anything please give us a call or WhatsApp message, we are only
5 minutes away.
